Your Family Dentist for Every Routine Visit

Royal Dental Center provides complete general and preventive dentistry for patients of every age in West Bloomfield. Your dentist focuses on catching small problems early, so your care stays simple, comfortable, and affordable.

Every visit starts with a thorough exam and a conversation about your goals. We take the time to explain what we see and why, so you always know what to expect next. If what you want is cosmetic rather than clinical, teeth whitening is the usual place that conversation starts.

General dentistry covers two kinds of care under one roof here. There is the preventive side, the exams and cleanings, screenings, fluoride, and sealants that keep problems from starting. And there is the treatment side for gums that have already been affected, from early gum disease through deep cleaning and the maintenance schedule that follows it. Most patients move between the two over the years, and having both in one office means nobody gets referred out mid treatment.

Your Visit

What a Checkup Looks Like

  1. A Full Exam

We check your teeth, gums, and bite, with images taken only when they are needed. Your dentist explains what they find in plain language, without pressure.

  2. Your Cleaning

We remove plaque and tartar, polish your teeth, and point out the spots that need more attention at home. Most cleanings take about an hour.

  3. A Plan You Understand

If anything needs treatment, we walk through your options, the cost, and the timing before you decide on anything.

  4. Your Next Visit

We book your next checkup before you leave, usually six months out, so preventive care stays easy to keep up with.

Common Questions

General Dentistry Questions

How often should I see a general dentist?

Most patients do well with an exam and cleaning every six months. Your dentist may recommend a different schedule if you have gum disease or other risk factors.

Does a dental cleaning hurt?

A routine cleaning is generally comfortable. If you have sensitive teeth or gum disease, we can adjust our approach and use numbing gel to keep you comfortable.

What happens during an oral cancer screening?

We check your mouth, tongue, and throat for anything unusual. It only takes a minute and is included with your regular exam.

What is the difference between a regular cleaning and a deep cleaning?

A regular cleaning cleans above the gum line. A deep cleaning, also called scaling and root planing, treats below the gum line when gum disease is present.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Your insurance card, a list of any medications you take, and the name of your previous dentist if you would like records transferred. If you have had images taken elsewhere in the last year, we can often use those rather than repeating them. Arriving a few minutes early gives our team time to go through your history with you properly, and you can complete your forms in advance through the booking link so the first visit starts with the exam rather than with paperwork.

What if I have not been to a dentist in years?

You are in good company, and it changes nothing about how you are treated here. The first visit is an exam and a conversation, not a lecture and not a list of everything that is wrong. We tell you what we find, sort it into what needs attention now and what can wait, and pace the treatment around what you are comfortable with. If nerves are what kept you away, say so when you book. Sedation with nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, is available on most visits.

Do you see children as well as adults?

Yes. We are a family practice and see patients of every age, so parents and children can be booked on the same day rather than at two offices. Children have their own kids dentistry page covering first visits, sealants, and how we keep an appointment calm for a nervous child, and nitrous oxide is available for them too.

Does insurance cover exams and cleanings?

Preventive visits are what most dental plans cover most fully, usually twice a year. We work with most major PPO plans, and we verify your benefits before your visit so you know where you stand before you sit down. The quickest way to get a real answer for your own case is a short conversation. Call us at (248) 863-9109 or book online.
